The Spice Rack Store

In June 2006, we opened The Spice Rack store in Cherokee, Iowa. The store consists of a retail shop featuring kitchen supplies, handmade items, gourmet foods and organic herbs and spices. In conjunction with the retail store is a commercial bakery specializing in Italian pizzelles and biscotti that we sell on this website and in the store.

Items on this website can be found in the store. There are MANY items found in the store that are not on this website. If you've been in the store and would like to order something you've seen, please call us at (712) 225-0222 or e-mail us. We'll be happy to take your order over the phone and ship your items to you. If you're looking for something in particular and can't find it locally, give us a try. We might have it and we can ship it to you!

If you don't live nearby and would like to take a "peek" inside the store, we've placed some pictures below for you to enjoy. If you DO live nearby and haven't made it in, please come in and browse! We'd love to meet you!

Our 100-year-old building has its original storefront with two large windows surrounded in copper. The double doors are made with HEAVY wood frames covered in copper. The three windows on the upper floor were replaced a few years ago. The store was originally the "Hawley Alison" clothing store, and remained under that name for most of its 100-year life.

As you walk in the store, the original display case is toward the right. During the Hawley Alison days the case housed stockings, gloves and jewelry. Now we use it to display an array of kitchen/baking supplies and also our antique pizzelle irons. Our "mini museum" is open for all to see and learn about pizzelles.

When you enter the front door, the original elevator is toward the left. What you see in this photo is along the wall beyond the elevator.

Toward the middle of the floor we have an array of display centers featuring a variety of kitchen supplies and gadgets, along with our baked goods, gourmet foods and herbs and spices. Original display cabinet and dressing room doors from the Hawley Alison store were used to create dividers in our display area.

We have a large supply of kitchen towels, handmade crochet-top hanging towels, potholders, aprons, dish cloths, placemats and napkins along the east wall beyond the building's original display case.

We carry handmade embroidered baby burp cloths. They are featured on this display rack made just for them! If you're expecting a new little one in the family these make a perfect gift!

We have a large array of organic or all natural herbs and spices along with our gourmet foods. If you need something and can't find it, give us a try!
